How did Mussels get in my pond?

I live about 100 miles from the sea and very often see seagulls. So, I assume they can easily fly great distances.

I started my pond with water. I now have snails, salamanders, tadpoles, fish, and all manner of aquatic life. I'd like to find some mussels someday.
