Hello I am building my first pond. It is made from concrete blocks. It will not have any fish. There will be a sheer descent waterfall. Basically it is a formal pond/fountain.
I do not know how to attach the pond liner to it. I have attached a pic.
Thanks in advance.

Most put the liner in, pull it up over the edge and put a cap stone over that piece of liner. You also could coat the concrete with water proofing.

I don't think anybody has attached the liner via glue etc to concrete, that I know of

Thank you. I got that part. What I am asking is how to attach it to the back wall. It will have a waterfall. I will attach a pic of what I am trying to recreate. Thanks again.

AWWWWWWWW brain fart, sorry.

Use polyurethane glue, tubes from home depot etc. Fish safe and holds well.

Are you going to leave the liner showing? or try to cover

Thanks. I am at a cross roads with how we are going to cover the liner. I am thinking about using solid concrete block & tiling over that or granite slab. Any suggestions? FYI I am building this myself.

If it were me, I would invest in the concrete coating stuff just for the wall. If you are going to attach tile, rock etc to it, I would not trust the glue to keep it attached well with that weight.

The mud you put under floor tile, some is made to be used in bathrooms, has a polymer that makes it more water proof, use it to attach the stones, granite tiles etc. Use it instead of the concrete coating.

A granite slab would be beautiful, make a lower shelf, ledge etc to help hold the granite up.

Or look in tile stores and get the granite tiles, you could mix some really nice colors and you would not be dealing with as much weight

How soon do you need a answer on this? My koi dealer also does that type of install. I can ask him also for his advice but it would Monday or Tues. before I could get with him. I trust his advice, He helped me greatly while I was doing my build. LMK by a pm so I can get back with you if you would like me to.

Where did you get this pic? I've seen this pond before.

Don't use slate, it can be beautiful, but.... it melts with constant water exposure. I had to replace a slate bathroom in my other house, it turned to mush on the floor.

I remember that photo from seeing it somewhere on this forum I believe. I think someone else was building a pond like that and was using that photo to guide them. It's prolly on the net somewhere and peeps like what they see in it
