How humanized are your koi? Let me start with mine first:

(1)

"Snow White" is an educated koi. She is my only fishy who "knows" how to read the water temperature gauge. She stays on bottom when the gauge sez cold, and she floats to top when it sez hot! :)

It seems that all my koi are toilet-trained. They only sh*t by the fountain piping (see photos)...

and they don't sh*t where they sleep by pond corners.

OK, guys. Don't laugh. I'm sure your koi can do some humanized things. Please share your fishy stories.

All my goldfish loved me until I got my big boy BB. He is now 14" long He is the boss who owns the pond He some how told all the other fish not to trust me. When I am feeding them all of a sudden BB for no reason splash water into my face and they all run away. If I feed them late the next day, he becomes nice to me. This fish knows what he is doing RDK

I can't eat pond side anymore. When I take out a sub or grinder or a bag of corn chips they all line up in a row and just look at me with their fish eyes. They want it. RDK

So, have a bowl of Cheerios, steamed rice or Koi food by your side and let them enjoy lunch with you. my wife gives ours steamed rice as a treat, they love it.

OK- I am going to order a box of white rice for them at the take out, if it stays warm. RDK

I don't think they will care if it cools off.

I have the same problem everytime I let the dogs out. They hear/feel the rumble of the slider and race over to the edge.

Dr. Dave... thanks for the suggestion of rice... my Koi thank you as well. I always like giving my Koi a treat and I saw this thread yesterday and made them some steamed rice and they went crazy for it.
