I'm really enjoying your photos, just stunning. P.B.S had a nature series last year, and hummingbirds were a feature in one episode. Scientists wanted to check how hummingbirds could survive living in high altitudes in such low oxygen conditions. They are very amazing birds, thanks for the photo.

I recently planted a cardinal flower and it's now blooming - so beautiful. I'd like to plant more next year and also some red bee balm :)

Hummers love cardinal flower. I've heard it's the truest red of any flower that you can grow and hummingbirds love the color red.

That guy looks like he's ready to go on the attack!

Beautiful !! I bought mine a year ago and didn't realize is was lavender, so I'm on the look out for red :) I've tried a couple nurseries, but they've been sold out.
I might be able to gather some seeds I will check.

I have lavender in the back field. the bees love it.

Ha ha, jokes on me :) Yes that is the lavender color I have and the bees adore it!! I thought having some red would be a nice addition for hummingbirds. My cardinal plant is now blooming, but I haven't noticed hummingbirds near it...we have an arbor covered with honeysuckle vine that they love !

We have honey suckle EVERYWHERE! It grows all around the edge of the yard mixed in with poison ivy.
