Last two years I had water hyacinth, and they roots would grow all the way to the bottum which is two feet deep. My pond is 365 gallon and I have seven shubunkins and one sarassa that are all 6" to 9" long. So I think my fish per gallon ratio is what makes all of my plants grow so fast. Last year it got to a point where I couldn't give the water hyacinth away fast enough. I had to compost most of it because it was crowding my pond. It's great in my pond because the frogs love to hide in it.

Happy ponding,
