i think i know what killed my gold fish

so anyways as most of you know i broke down my goldfish pond because they all died

well im guessing it was the sperm that killed them off
because the water surface was a little milky white and there are reports of eggs from them

why would you think that killed the fish? I've never heard of sperm killing anyone (LOL!).

it chokes them out i guess...idk it happens in saltwater aquariums all the time when coral spawn in public aquariums they have to water change and oxygenate the water
cause they were fine until they bred

I dunno. I've never heard of this in a pond with goldfish...

I guess if the water surface is covered and there is no other oxygenation, they could have suffocated.

the surface was covered with hornwort

but still, even if the surface is covered. It's not hermetically sealed---there is oxygen getting through. I guess it could be possible, but I still think this is a little funky.

And, why would you let hornwort or any other plant completely cover your pond surface 100%?

because i was trying to grow it out so i could sell it to my lfs
and it wasnt really 100% there was some "breathing room"
