I'm planning out a new project that will include a shallow shelf in a low/no current portion of a stream and a bog section. The depth of the "pond" - really a wading pool for dogs - will be 12"

I would like some ideas for the stream section and bog. For the pool, I would like to add (1) pot of water lilly. What's the min depth i'll need if I just dig a hole for that pot? Can I use a species that works with more shallow water?

I live in Durham, NC - so frost doesn't come often, summer's are really hot and the feature will have some shade from a tree, but not be totally shady.

Check the plant section, there are lilies that do ok in shallow water. Some require deeper water.

I am making a bog with pea gravel and using pvc as the water input, I have posted a thread in the construction area, if you would to check it out.
