Hey everyone,
Anyone out there have an indoor pond? My inlaws have what they refer to as a Lanai (not sure if I spelled it right) in there new place in Florida, it is a large screened in room with an in ground pool. Their room is probably 15 feet X 25 feet. I was imagining something like this but a bit more built up with windows and what not, I think it is referred to as a sun room or 3 season room? I was thinking it could be attached to the house with large pocket doors leading out to it so it could feel like part of the living space.
I would LOVE an indoor pond because currently I battle every predator imaginable outside and I don't get to enjoy my fish in the winter. (By the way, this might be a total pipe dream... I can dream though).
I then thought about what it would take to deal with an indoor pond. This is the list of things that first crossed my mind....
- I would want a big 'ol dehumidifer to keep the huminidty down, if not I would think mold in the house would be an issue (yuck)
- I would want to pipe in a drain or drainage sink and a source of water so I could do water changes.
- What about pond odor? I would think the water changes and a good filtration design would help this?
- What about sunlight?
- What about heat? I would think a sun room like this would get hot due to the green house effect.
Anyone tackle these problems?
