I noticed today one of my shubunkins has an injury on its side. I'm guessing from ! rock but who knows. There are several large rocks at the bottom of the pond that have some sharp edges.

On the other hand, I realized the other day I have a random fish in my pond (see this thread https://www.gardenpondforum.com/threads/doesnt-look-like-a-goldfish-cichlid.27276/#post-434464 )

The injured shubunkin is swimming fine and eating. Anything that can be done or let nature deal with it?

Hard to see but that white looking string is actually part of the fishes body hanging off. It's like a chunk of his body got scratched

You’d better check, make sure it’s not anchor worm. Best thing I can think of is set up a quarantine tank, add the stress coat, pond water, a filter and air stones, and net the fish out. You can double check that it’s not a parasite then. If it is, you’ll want to knock the fish out with clove oil, or get help securing it with a wet towel, and remove the worm using tweezers, then medicate all the fish. However if it is just an injury, a few hours or days with a bit of extra tlc, stress coat, and maybe fresh melon or veggies for treats will help it recover
