This is my first post: We were gone for 5 months. Our two granddaughters were house sitting. 3 days before we arrived home bears got in the pond and demolished all my fish - 6 big koi and two goldfish (we had 12 fish originally but raccoons had picked the others off over the years before we deepened the pond - we heard that raccoons won’t put their heads in the water).
We arrived back on Dec 1st and it’s taken me all this time to even say anything about it. I plan to clean out the pond and start again. This time l’ll put a cover over whenever I’m not home. We live in the San Bernadino forest in the mountains so after having the pond about 18 years (14’x 10’) we’re fortunate not to have had this happen before?
Thanks for “listening”

Darn so sorry to hear. I just get deer in our pond, luckily only once. And a ground hog fell in one time. They can swim pretty good!

@Bulldog
That would be awful to lose all your fish that way! So sad.
I suppose you may have to resort to electric wires to keep bears away. Seems as tho anything else they could just rip apart.
