Is a backflush kit necessary on a waterfall filter?

I will be installing a Watermark f5000 filter with a pondmaster 4800 gal pump. The instructions talk about installing a manual backflush kit while you initially put in the filter. Does anyone have ones of these installed on thier waterfall filter? Any recommendations...

Not familiar with this one, but backflushing is the easiest way to clean a filter.

if you see a pic of the backflush kit for your filter,,,take notes.....buy a valve and put it on...

Little Giant has a manual backflush kit available for thier waterfall filters. I bought it and installed it, Basically its a knife valve, bulkhead fitting and flex hose.

I'm thinking of buying one of these for my new pond and 10' head height waterfall this weekend or early next week. How is it working for out for you?
