Hiiii everyone!

I just bought a house and it came with a pond… a few months in, now I’m already thinking about it’s larger replacement.

In the meanwhile, I need to do stuff to make it the best place for the fish that are already in it, and then… pond 2!

I’ve kept fish since I was around 12 and everything from reef fish, to planted, predators to plecos, but the pond (and koi) are new, so much to learn!

Current pond is around 2800 gallons or so, little to no real filtration (skimmer to waterfall), needs some serious cleaning, new filtration, and love!

Hello from New Jersey!

Welcome, lps ( larger pond syndrome, not to be confused with large polyp stony if you come from the reefing world ) always hits new pond owners! I would love to see some pictures of the current setup.

Good idea! Here are some pics. Ignore the leaves they get skimmed out daily (and yes that’s a snake, there’s a family of them living in the pond rocks).

How fun for you! You'll find tons of good advice and assistance here - looks like it will be a lovely pond again soon.

Welcome to the forum!

I had 3 nessies hanging out in my pond last year. They all moved on. The huge one I found it's skeleton. fox, hawk, owl meal.
