Hi, I'm a newby pond-owner in Bradford, UK. Enjoying the Easter heatwave right now!
The pond is well established, but has regular visits from a Heron which took all the previous fish stocks before we moved in - so looking for tips and advice on maintenance and re-stocking.

A lot fight the heron problem. There are a lot of posts about putting netting over your pond to protect it from the herons. They also put fishing line, strung over the pond so the bird can't fly in. They have also strung line around the pond so the bird when walking up hits it.

I haven't had a bird problem, but have very few fish and they hide.

How deep is your pond?

You will get some help from those that fight the herons.

When you have questions make sure you post what kind of equipment you have, pump, filter etc that helps us know what you have to help you.

Also we love to see photos! post some of your pond when you can.

I finally beat the heron w/ my radio........well not literally. I had it set to come on out on our front deck by the pond at dawn to dusk. He doesn't like talk radio blaring away at him. Our neighbors aren't too close so if you have ones that are close make sure it doesn't bother them first. Mr Heron hasn't been back since. I also have a little wire fence and some fish line attached around the top. Heron don't like stuff touching their legs either
