I have one butterfly (male) and one short-fin koi in a 720g tub where there
are now at least 100 fry. It looks like 1/2 are butterflies. So I ask...
how can this be if long fins are recessive? Is the short-fin female a
hybrid, or are long fins dominant over short fins? Both were bought 9 years
ago so I know nothing about their background.

Also in the smaller pond are all Butterflies yet some of their fry are short
fin. This tells me these BF koi are not purebred. Please correct me if I'm
    wrong someone.
