A dinky small lotus, blooms 4"-6" at most, pads less than 8", about 2' tall. Well suited to container pond 2' wide.

Rather impressive bloom to pad ratio, excellent scent

Tubers good to go for a limited time only, when the growing points get to run they are too delicate to transplant.
Looking for trades of interest for named varieties, hardy or tropical waterlily, iris, canna, daylily etc

Good to go to locations with warm climates, 60's waters will see lotus take off at a steady pace

So how long does it take for the leaves to start going above water? I have about 4-5 new leaves already but all still on the water.

Momo Botan has been putting up aerial pads for a week or two in a position moderated to avoid excessive heat.

Though I have to confess they have had no fertilising, just a couple or three inches of soft mud

A few spares in a hot sunny tray, more or less bonsai conditions have 2" pads were thinking about raising pads, though, am keeping those bonsai'd, and bare root so they can go in a parcel..

Hot midday sun, wonky fertilising can slow up a lotus

It got full sun all day. The water is super green now and I put it in fertilized dirt. I saw one small aerial pad, just an inch above the water but that's a start. I'm going to do some water change, using the water from my inside fish tank so it'll have lots of nitrate :)

I'll have to build a little shade for it then :)
