Today, part of my tuber emerged above water level and we’ve been getting hot, sunny weather over here. I’m worried that it’ll dry and shrivel up. Is that most likely what will happen?

Just shove it back under the water. Use a rock or some dirt to hold it down if you have to.

I tried with as much force as I could without breaking it but it won't budge. My temporary solution as of right now is repositioning some leaves to provide more shade
