I’ve been getting more leaves developing yellowing/browning edges and small specks of yellow towards the middle. The temperatures here in northern Jersey are still hovering around 90°F. Is this just a result of leaves aging or is it possibly another issue (i.e. lack of nutrients, tuber rot, insect pests, etc.)?

Looks like aging leaves to me. The older leaves do that all the time for me.

Yea I agree, I think that's partially what it is. But I also think it might be something else as well, because even a few of the newer leaves have been quick to get like that too

Seven is highly toxic to beneficial insects as well as to aquatic animals. Aphids can be killed by knocking them of with water, or squishing.

Oh okay, I would rather do that. I'll try it instead next time. I wasn't sure what they were so I used it since it covers a wide variety of insects. I never notice any other insects around the leaves other than paper wasps that come to drink the water and I made sure to flush out all the water afterwards. I also have my lotus set apart, in a pot, so it didn't get sprayed onto any other plants
