I've had my lotus for about 6-7 years now. I have the dwarf type. Got it as a small tuber with one or two leaves on it. I have it in a 30 gallon tub, water is about 4-6 inches deep with water running across it 24/7. I leave it out all winter and it does freeze at the water level at times, it will bloom without fert. But when I do fert. regular it blooms three to four times as many flowers. Great plant, one of my favorites but as said, Koi LOVE the new shoots so it's highly recommended to keep it where koi can't get to it, goldies don't bother it at all, I've raised probably 10 young ones from the primary plant and so far the only other one that has done great was in a 600 gallon pond and it was the center piece in a LARGE pot with only small comets in the pond.

Well plants will love my big pond with few fish, but i will need to feed them a little. Out mucking in the bog today, it is so exciting the cheap dying end of year plants I picked up at the nursery all have green on them! Love the 50 cents they cost.

How cool is that addy. I'm gonna have to keep more aware on end of year sales. You can really find some good deals if you just watch those racks

Laughing, when you don't bring in a salary anymore (well honey does) I haunt the tlc racks go around paying very little for plants that just don't look "beautiful" but they sure do grow well.

I love the reduced plant racks! I have a pomagrante tree I bought a few years ago that cost me $1 it's now over 8 feet high and I can bet it has 200+ blooms on it this year! Can't wait for all the blooms to open, It's going to look fantastic! Another great add I got off the reduce rack was a Canary date palm ($3 I think), It's over 15 feet high now and is one of the biggest palms in the yard
