Lumps on tails of fantail goldfish

I just adopted 25 assorted fantail goldfish (not sure specifically what they all are) but one of them has several large bumps on its tail. It managed to slip from it's current home to my prize jumbo koi pond! I paniced and some quick research scared the hell out of me, so, sorry no pictures he/she's been euthanized!
