Got creative. Glass from a broken solar pathway light, biomedia in the bottom, bag of activated carbon, polyfill floss, hanging in a cage cup hanger for a dog kennel.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME, damn capos are back..... filtering is needed for waste production and left over food . don't see floating plants fit that criteria. interesting dyi though

Why would you need a filter for plants that provide filtration?
The water looked cloudy and I wanted to run it over carbon to clear it since it's inside and I have to look at it. I'm sure it was just cycling, but aesthetically it was tweaking me out.😅

There are a ton of small snails, so it's not just plants, fwiw. There were also mosquitoes too, so I had to put a piece of mosquito dunk in it.
