Male Mallard today

We have a pair of Mallards that are very tame compared, they both have leg bands. They swim very close to us and the dogs. This male was bathing and flaming and I grab a shot

I believe it has a lot to do with hunting management more then research for the welfare of the ducks, the hunters are supposed to call the bands in I guess that info means something towards duck management. They keep the bands as a souvenir once dead, I prefer pictures of the ducks swimming with the bands and I will leave it at that.
