Hi everyone! I have chosen water hawthorn as a plant for my 20 gallon, 2 ft wide water garden for spring and fall, but I need a water lily-esque plant for the summer when the hawthorn will be dormant. I am torn between a water snowflake (any Nymphoides species except N. peltata, which is a noxious weed in my native state) or Marsilea mutica, and wanted to know a little more about each plant before I make a choice. Here we go...

1 - What temperature is required for active growth in these plants? I know many Nymphoides sp. die if water temperatures drop below 50 fahrenheit for any length of time, but I wasn't able to find at what temperature they (or M. mutica, for that matter) start growing.
2 - How well do they overwinter indoors in aquariums? (I understand both genera are represented in aquariums)
3 - Would a 1 gallon fabric pot work for these plants, or would they need something larger?
4 - Should I fertilize with 3 fertilizer tablets per gallon of soil a month like a water lily, or somewhat less?
5 - Anything else I should know about these plants?

Thank you :)
