Mesh bag around pump

Hi there. I have set up my pond and I have put a mesh bag around my pump with takes the water to my filter. Is this a good idea or should I ditch the bag?

Are you trying to save baby fish or keep you pump from clogging or ? There are ways to do this for a certain reason in different ways. If you just put a fine mesh bag around it and it collects and clogs up too fast you could burn up your pump.

Those mesh bags around the pump are a nightmare unless you keep them really clean .

I have one around my pump in my skimmer . It's not the fine mesh,it's a heavy plastic sort of flimsy basket. It never gets clogged enough to inhibit flow.

I use one for my pump too and I like it. Never had any issues with it.

Ditch it. Put stones around it instead. Just build a little cavern for your pump.
