Hi All. Firstly thanks for all of the help when it came to liner repair questions. We had a huge repair project earlier this summer. And it worked out well. The pond is now holding water nicely.... EXCEPT for where the "monk drain" is (the pipe overflow drain) attached to the liner (through a hole in the liner).

When the pond was originally created the drain pipe was attached with silicone but it did not hold (although we have no idea when it came apart, how long it lasted prior to failing).

We tried reattaching with poly caulk (that we used for the liner repair) but that came apart easily. So we tried the silicone over top of that.
Still leaked.
Tried again.
Still leaks...

The leak isn't massive, but it means that when we have to divert the incoming water flow from our spring (as we've had to do this summer a few times for garden watering, etc.), that the water level can drop to below the pipe (about a foot from the high water line, which ends up a lot when the pond is only 4 ft. deep at the deepest). Although it takes several days to drop down that far, it would help to not have this as an issue.

So my question is - what do people use to attach the pipe and keep it from leaking around the base?

Thank you!!!

+I would think that should have a threaded end with the liner squeezed between two washers and two nuts, with rubberized sealant directly on the liner before the washers and nuts are squeezed together for good measure. maybe even have the outside nut attached to a post or solid mounting point.

Or at least that should be the general idea--we have to make assumptions-45 mi epdm liner, solid pvc pipe?

it sounds like you are looking for a bulked fitting , now there are many types and all with the same basic principle, you want as wide a flange around penitration . and you tighten the fitting but only so much as going too tight will warp the function of the gaskets

'I've never heard of a "bulked" fitting, but it appears from my google search you likely meant to say "bulkhead", and according to the images brought up in that search there are lots there to choose from. It would also be good to remember to allow for some movement, so the surrounding liner should have a little excess to keep everything at the fitting in place
