Please help, have a 6 inch koi who just wasn't right and not eating. Got him out and scraped. It would seem that I hadn't eradicated the costia I treated earlier in the year but I know how to deal with this
My bigger issue is that the kois mouth is stuck open. There is nothing stuck in it, what can I do?
Is it possibly bacterial?

Local koi dealer had a look and thinks its lockjaw. Apparently you can attempt to massage it to free it but says that often they lock up again. Doesn't hold out much hope

Oh no can they live like that or will it just die soon?
Here is a conversation about it that I just found online, maybe you already saw this? Keep reading down as someone posted about some med and salt working:

I had already seen that thread but thank you. Had some costia in the pond so when I isolated this fish, I treat him with fmg as this thread advised, also salt baths
Koi dealer had a go at manipulating his jaw today and there is now a tiny bit of movement. He will have another go in a few days if no improvement as the fish will eventually starve

Hope all your trying to help the poor fish works! I didn't see something called fmg. What is that? Or did I miss it? Did you mean 3gm's of the OTC maybe?

Hi, malachite and formalin as I originally thought it might be due to an ulcer in his mouth, due to costia. I've had him checked at a koi shop, no ulcer and the guy suggested that he's over extended jaw causing it to lock. It's heartbreaking, he's a beautiful ogon. Going to have another go at manipulating it in a few days but not sure what else we can do. He's really not liking the quarantine tank

Update. Unfortunately this fish died quite suddenly this evening. Wondering if he had something more going on
Swimming around the pond all day, swam across to the middle, went down to the bottom and up through the aerated bubbles of the bottom drain. When he surfaced he was on his side and dead...very sad and I witnessed it
RiP Little platinum ogon
