Hi all, it's been a while!

I'm moving house soon and I will be taking my 6 common or garden ordinary goldfish with me. I love them and can't bear to leave them behind.

I have to move them on a 2 and a half-hour drive and have absolutely no idea how.

Anyone know how to make them comfortable on the road?

Any advice welcome.

Thank you all so much.

That's not very far. You could just put them in a Rubbermaid container w/holes in the top or something similar. I mean goldfish have lived in bowls for years w/o any air stones etc.

Purge them before, no food for a few days. This will reduce waste in the water. Keep the water in the container shallow, will improve oxygen exchange. Battery operated air pumps are available, but they will probably be fine.

Also, check that the water temp and pH in the tote is about the same as the water they’re coming out of, and the water they’re going into at the new house. I quarantined four new goldfish in a 15 gallon tote for a week, but had to do 20% water changes daily to keep ammonia from rising, so don’t leave them there too long.

Use the water they are in right now to put into the container they will travel in as you don't want to shock them w/new water. You can add some new water to it tho.
