Hi guys I recently got a raised garden pond in October I’ve filled it with water and it’s been running with the filter but no fish in it since October however i recently looked at the pond and it has loads of mud in it but there all like worm shaped like quite a few of em just wondering if it’s anything to worry about as it looks strange or it’s just dirt

Thank you jack

@Jackb
Think someone else posted about this recently and think it was just some kind of algae and nothing bad. Not for sure but maybe they will chime in again about it.

There either colonies of bacteria or tunnels from insects anyway you look at it they are a sign of a healthy eco system

Hi Jack, welcome to the site! I agree with the above but am curious about the mud you mentioned. A raised garden pond should not have, "Loads of mud." Perhaps the mud is actually decaying leaves that fell from nearby trees? Is there a roof downspout somehow draining into the pond? Are there children who might be playing in or around the pond? Many years ago, I had a similar problem with mud and debris getting into my garden pond and couldn't for the life of me figure out the source until I found a pair of children's glasses on the bottom. The neighbor's kids were 'visiting' the fish.

Just to say hi! and toss in rocks, sticks, stuff.

Welcome to the forum!
That's what those kids were doing! Once the kids fessed up, they relayed that one drank from the pond. I said, "Oh too bad, I seeded the pond with turtle water!"
