Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to the site and wish I found this earlier. So much good info here. I have a question for the community that I hope someone can help me with. I bought a house a number of years ago and the pond has a nice, small waterfall. Near the top of the falls there is a Multi Cyclone 50 Pre Filter (MCPF) that is fed by the low pump.
The problem is that the MCPF gets clogged up with juniper berries and I need to remove and disassemble it 1-2 per year to clean it out. It is a royal PITA. Since I have a screen basket and mesh filter for the water heading to the pump can I just replace the MCPF with a straight pipe and just clean out the filters before the pump more often? How necessary/common are these prefilters?
Thanks for any helpful advice!

@Oneliner
I don't have that kind of setup but hopefully an answer will come your way soon.

Were it mine, I'd do just as you suggest; a prefilter that is easy to clean is important, imo.
