I have had these lilies in my pond forever. They always covered the surface til this year. I have 3 on the one side and 1 on the other. The lilies did not come up like they have in the past on the one side. Just a few pads. When I noticed one container didn't come up at all, I pulled it up and dug through the gravel and noticed the tuber was just mush. Is it normal for a tuber to die like that?

If it froze and or just decided to die. When my lilies grow new tubers and the old get older they do mush up. I have not had a whole lily die though.

That side of the pond is 3 feet deep. It didn't freeze. Maybe just got old and decided it was done? lol Weird.

Or it did not like the 3 feet, who knows. Plants do what plants want to do. Just like our bees they do what they want to do.

Yeah, it is weird. They have been there for years. This is an old pick of what they have always looked like til this year.

Nice pond!
I have some that are growing great, no flowers, some that have few leaves but tons of flowers. I just look at them and move on with life lol
