The usually come up to the surface the second the food hits the water but today only a couple of them lazily came up to feed. And its been 3 days since I fed them, its usually every day. Now it is kinda cold (40s to 50s) and we had a torrential down pour yesterday.

Fish don't eat much as it gets colder. Feed less. If they don't go for the food, stop feeding. Stop totally when the water is about 50 degrees. The fish metabolism slows down as they prepare to "hibernate" for winter.

We wind our feeds down until we get to 10c then quit for the wintermonths ahead , you shouls hav been feeding them wheatgerm and garlic which is a much easier food for them to
digest at lower temperatures
Koi do not have stomachs and the goodness nutrients vitamins etc are extracted via the intestinal wall.
Its best just to sprinkle a few pellets to see if they have stopped , they will tell you if they eat them fine , if not net them back out but the koi will let you know .

Personally Jeff they are telling you they are ready for the winter period what is 55f in celcius around about the 10c mark or slightly above yes ?
Farenheight is such an awful way of reading temperatures we much prefare the Celcius scale far easier to read and spot on with its temperatures have you concidered using it yourself Jeff , I would ?
