Hi

A few ago months I introduced myself and my first lotus. Today I going to show you how it goes this year.

It was born from seed on March 14.

I'd love to have a lotus. Did you have any problem with mosquitoes or odors, in a tub of still water?

Hi

Thanks a lot for your comments.

where did you get your seeds

I bought the seeds at an online store in Mexico.

Fortunately, the water did not smell bad, there was very little organic matter in the substrate. There were some mosquito larvae in the beginning, but I added a few drops of cypermethrin to the water.

Mine took a year to get blooming. Nice growth there.

I had seen other people in the first year bloom, but maybe for the next year.

Cool. Time lapse photography. Maybe it'll flower next year.

This is my favorite lotus:

Thank you, I hope the next year.

Maybe I should move mine to Jamaica! Four years, and not a single bud. This year they're in the greenhouse, and will stay there all summer, so we will see!

I would cut the yellowing, brown edged older leaves off. Cut the stem above water. I have read cutting below water the tuber might "drown" The stem is full of holes.

That will give your new leaves more light and nutrients.

The new growth looks great btw

I'm working on nicking my seeds right now.....tough job!! I'm participating in a lotus grow out. I don't have many sunny windows in our house, so will have to move them around to follow the sun!
