Well the hole is dug and the padding and liner is in...just gotta finish putting up fence before we can finish with the waterfall/hose/pumps and finally fill it! The guys helped bunches thank God because my hands were telling me I was not going to dig the whole thing myself, now the rocks and the rest is up to me when the fence is finished though I've been informed lol

Thanks! My son informed me when I came home from work (short day today) that the pond was half full! I went out and sure enough but I'm not really ready for it to have water in it yet! Sure glad we decided to put the liner in over the padding last night and I pleated and folded the edges on every layer, because now I have to put rocks in swimming! lol Guess we'll be putting a snow fence around it until we get the east side fence done darnit mother nature anyhow lol jesh was not expecting this...

I would like to see anyones skimmer setup and electrical box...trying to figure how to do a skimmer and plan on having a electrical box to plug everything in instead of running an extension cord underground like I did for my little pond during the summer. Does a skimmer have a pump of it's own??? or do you hook it up somehow to the pump that will run the waterfall? New territory for me...I have no clue how to do this, but figured I best put in a skimmer to help save on some cleaning time. I need a picture to figure this all out cuz the blond brain cant envision it at all.

have you look at you tube they have several video's of installs on them .Electrical if you find a good electrician and tell him what you want and what you expect he will know by looking at everything .Get a couple of quotes and make sure they are licensed and make sure you have empty spots in your breaker panel and that you have enough amps coming into the house .I have surge protected breakers and also make sure he does not try to jump off another breaker that is illegal and dangerous and will overload the breaker which can cause a fire .Make sure he puts more than enough electrical outlets so nothing is overloaded .Also make sure the outlets are on more than one breaker if one pops you still have the other one going until you can reset it .If you need a sub panel that will cost more ,that is if your panel has no open spots .

Well 2 more inches of rain last night...and the pond is now 3/4 full! Guess I wont have to use our city water to fill it...just have to get the filter/pump/skimmer all set up so it doesn't decide to "grow"...and will have to place rocks swimming around in the water. The wind we had pushed our new fence over 3"...not amused and it was tamped watered and cemented in...ground was dry when we did it and it would have settled nicely had we not had gail force winds...so not amused. Knocked over 3 of my sunflowers and broke a nice size branch too...6" total this week of rain and we couldn't beg for a drop before

free fill ups great but wind damage not so much .We had a severe thunder and lightening storm last night but no rain and was just sitting on the swing on the front porch sunny out and nice fluffy white clouds and thunder .I guess it is heat thunder because no lightening but sure are some loud rumbles .At least you don't have to treat the free water either .I was watching the weather channel and was talking about a lot of severe storms out your way .

HELP Question...we have been having ALOT of rain this week and sounds like we'll be getting another round today/tonight...any ideas on making an overflow drain. To come up with a quick idea I though I could just make a divet on the south (low side) with the liner about say 4 inches wide a few inches below the rim if and when it does want to overflow so hopefully excess water would run out that spot until I can come up with a more perminent idea...only thing is it might wash out the dirt on that side as that side is the "dam" that we put in just to hold the water in. Probably put down a liner along where I'd make the divet so it wouldnt wash the dirt away...sound like a plan or any other idea's that would work or that has worked for others???

I used a yard drain and built up around it It comes with a plastic screen on it and a piece of pipe .I did not want fish to be washed out .I sealed around it with roofing goop .The drain is a big 6 inch one and found it near all the yard drainage stuff .It was green but since mine is hidden under the water fall you can't see it any ways .I actually made it so that it was 8 inches above my high water line in my pond ,but my pond is above ground so that would be different than your set up .
