It was waiting for the little birdies to return @addy1
Hawks are quite pretty, graceful birds. They hunt the barn pigeons at the horse farm across from us and eat them on our property. Feathers all over the place.

i have never seen them catch a bird, hardly ever see feathers, more problems with roaming cats than the hawks.
They do love to snack on the frogs in the summer.

I love watching them, we also have falcons that come by now and then.

Oh we had piles of feathers out by where we were cutting up our firewood. The hawk would sit high up in the Doug Fir trees and wait, grab a bird out of the sky and bring it down and feast out. Don't see many cats around our property except my cat and she's getting older and lazy and never been much good as a hunter.

I catch cats patrolling all of the time, I track them on the cameras, a lot come at night. They also stalk the yard during the day, not as much right now. Wish there was a cat leash law.

When we got home from the city yesterday, as I was opening the gate to our driveway I saw a black object out of place in the scenery.
When I moved to see it more clearly it turned out to be an animal - a big black wolf.
I wish I had a camera shot to post here. Pretty cool.

As the snow melts, winter carcasses are exposed and predators/scavengers are out and about. (y)
We tend to stay close to home now to give those guys their space.
