I have koi and it is not easy to keep up with the growth of them .i started with 1500 gallons and am now at 5000+ gallons since 2005 .My first in 2004 was a preformed to hold the babies until I got done building the front porch .They were cheap koi from the koi farm that were rejects and all of them cost less than 5 dollars and were only a couple of inch's long at the time .Now my first 2 Aggie and Bert are over 2 foot long and the others are fancy tail and fat fantails .I wish i had only gotten fat fantails ,they just get fat and the butt wiggle is the cutest

One reason I stuck with goldfish/shubunkins. They stay small, easy to care for.
