Random plants, grasses, and flowers magically appearing here and there and trying to figure out their names.

@mrsclem nailed the ones that I knew -

When you say "magically appearing" do you mean you didn't plant these? That's a gardener's cue to beware - anything that shows up on it's own is generally invasive.

I've found the google lens app to be mostly helpful when I want to ID a plant. It's available for both android and iphones.

I will have to try this. I use SEEK by iNaturalist, have have been very happy with it. I’ve even been able to ID a few birds.
Yep inaturalist has been quite handy for me too as you can post any flora or fauna, but for bird ID I love Merlin to find them by shape/size etc. and bird.net (id's bird sounds) - I use it all the time and just love it.

#2 almost looks like Johnsongrass, an invasive grass that grows wet root, dirt, dry very easy to pull out. Has orange scales on its rhizomes,

You gals/guys are great! Had no idea about the apps to identify plants (but to be honest, I don't mind the interactions here instead).

Yes, everything but the mint literally appeared out of nowhere; mint was on side of house when I bought it, so transplanted it blindly to outer bank of pond and it's thriving; does have a minty smell!

I'll now know to watch things closely in case it needs premature removal; hard to believe that little knotweed thing can be so dreaded!

Will say an under the radar invasive species that's annoying is a maple, and some of those odd ball trees you can almost never get rid of no matter how many times you hack it down. There must be 25+ baby maples at water's edge, with some in standing water! Then a single chinquapin oak at back of the property is almost as bad. Every time I look down I find another sapling 100' away from it's parent.

Again, thanks for the info! Always wanted to live on a lake, so trying to let this pond be as natural as possible to mimic a lake, and something about those grasses growing in semi-clear water is just to cool and was curious what all this random stuff growing was.

Here's more of no.3, no. 7, and a new one, no. 11.

No.3 is growing at depths of 3' to 5' and new plants keep appearing throughout the pond. Leaves are flimsy at first, and flow with the water. Once long enough, they'll bend then become upright above the water's surface. Also noticing the leaves are taking on a slight spiral. Can't find young cat tails to compare with. Everything is fully grown.

No. 7 has no flowers. Just oddly structured branches.

No. 11,,,, Is that a sedge? They just started appearing in my grass, where I have excess water pooling. Haven't been cutting but watering and often damp.

11. Is a nut-sedge (Cyperus sp.)

7. It does look like an aster of some sort. If so, it may not flower until Fall. It would be good to see the flowers to be sure.

4. Hmm, I'm having doubts about my I.D. Maybe that isn't a Potamogeton. It could be a grass stolon that is trailing in the water. Maybe Bermuda Grass or St. Augustine grass? I'm just not sure.

No. 4 I have grass seed out, might be something from that.

What about no.3?

3. Well... it does look like a cat-tail (Typha sp.), especially the way the leaf slightly twists.

Thanks again Marck. No.3 seems to have peaked in height throughout the pond, so guess it's a waiting game to see if they develop corn dog pods or not.
