Hello everyone, I am in process of putting in a pond less waterfall, only because my wife doesn’t want a pond? I could use some advise going forward. I see already I need larger stones near my spillway stone or large stones up front. I am trying to hide the gas pipe coming out of my house with the spillway rocks and would also like some ideas on covering my brick wall to transform it into something that would be a good background? I am trying to make it all look as natural as possible using native sandstone throughout, except for my Septarian Concretion stone.

please jump in and give me your thoughts and concerns.
Thank you 9D33519D-6F81-48C0-8EDD-B81D8F0FC45E.jpeg

I would caution you against blocking the access to that gas line with anything that you hope to be permanent. Move the spillway either left or right and plan for a nice, full plant to hide the gas line. You don't want to put something there that can't be moved. You can always dig a plant up or cut it back. I'm not sure how far away you have that sitting, but I can guarantee you that anywhere in front of it is too close.

Oh but I meant to say - that's some VERY nice rock you have! And welcome to the GPF. It's generally best to post a topic only once, or you'll be all over the place answering the same questions - just a tip!

Thank you, I will work on something for the pipe. Lol, I didn’t know I posted twice? I thought it didn’t load the first time.
Thanks

One thing to think about, that sandstone is soft, especially when wet for prolonged periods. Nice for a rock garden, not so much for a pond. You might see about other types of rock that won’t break down so fast to be the bulk of the non visible portion. Go take a scenic drive, you’ll find rock sellers, especially along hwy 65, and in/ around hot springs. Talk to them, find out what other natural stone is available in the area, that won’t erode so fast.
Another thing, plants. Use plants to hide stuff you don’t want seen but might need to get to. Iris, day lillies, tall but easily cut out of the way, and will return quick enough with little harm. Avoid annuals, most will require replacement every year, and trees, woody shrubs that will take a long time to regrow is you have to cut back. Best part about bulbs and rhizomes is you can take some with you if you ever move.
