I have about half a dozen fish, a mixture of Koi and Ghost Carp in an outdoor pond, all have been in there for over 2 years. There is a double layer of netting to protect them from predators, and we haven`t seen a heron for over a year, yet when I go near the pond, the fish dive to the bottom, even when being fed, which I do at about the same time every morning. The largest fish ( a Ghost Carp) will often slap its tail on the water surface as if warning the others. Any ideas how to get them to be more confident, as my late father in laws fish swim toward any visitors and surface if they suspect there is a chance of food.
