Hey there!

I'm a new member (just finished posting my introduction ;-) with a recently completed pond project. My new pond has a bog and i'm wondering, is it too late in the season to add some bog plants? Do they have adequate time to establish before winter sets in? I'm in zone 7a and was planning on starting out with just hardy marginals.

Thank you!

It is better to start hardy perennials while Summer still warms the ground, rather than the hit or miss of hoping they have time to establish started next year

Iris in particular like to be well rooted in the season before, to flower. During mild spells, they chug out roots and shoots...

I started a bunch of mine late summer, early fall they did fine. Ones started early spring did well, ones started mid summer did well lol. It seems bog plants just grow and grow and grow. Mine are all full sun, just one area is slightly shaded.
