Hi!

I'm in the planning stage of building my very first pond! It's not going to be huge- only about 400 gallons- and I'm considering stocking it only with native fish and plants. As I live in SW Florida, there's lots around to give me ideas!

I may be a newbie to ponds, but I'm an avid aquarist and have had fish tanks since I was very young. My current passion is freshwater planted tanks, and I have 4 planted tanks going right now- a 90gal, 46gal, 29gal, and 10gal.

I look forward to meeting ya'll, learning more, and hopefully getting some more experienced feedback on my pond plans as my project evolves.

TIA
Laura Lee

hi
i just wanted to say i dont know how much room you have but i will tell you we redid our pond 3 times! so make it as big as you can and i bet it will be great. Ours went from 5 by 8 to 17 by 8 lol so you will upgrade alot but at first it will seem expensive at times but just keep going.

Thanks for the advice!

This pond is very limited for space as it's right up next to the house and bordered on all sides by walls and a sidewalk- so if I ever do decide to expand, it would have to be a new pond in a different location- which is unlikely with our current property. We have an acre and a quarter, but most of it is zoned protected wetlands so we won't be touching it. What isn't protected is full of limerocks bigger around than I am tall!
