Hi!
My name is Arun. I am from Clifton in Northern Virginia. I recently purchased this house in Clifton and one of the reasons I liked this house out of at least thirty I saw before making this choice, the house has a garden pond 2200 gallon with gold fishes in it. I added four Kois last month. I hope to get tips through this forum to maintain my pond and keep the fishes healthy.

I have one big Koi about 24' and five small about 8-9' besides about 40 gold fishes in my pond. Last winter I lost my four big kois (about 12') which I kept in a 150 gallon tub in my garage and left one Koi in the pond along with the gold fishes. The one I left in the pond survived and all four in my garage died in the month of March just a week before I had planned to move them to the pond. I am looking to buy a good deicer and planning to leave all the fishes in the pond. Can someone suggest a good deicer?

Welcome back! You may want to start a new thread with your question.

I wish that I could remember who posted about putting their big koi into a 100 gallon tote in the garage for the winter - my fear was the same would happen to them. You learned the hard way. Sorry to hear.

As for a good de-icer I think they all will do what they are supposed to do. You may want to compare based on energy consumption. Some folks here have been suggesting a pond breather as an alternative to a de-icer. Something to consider!
