My Koi finally outgrew their old pond so I decided to dig a new pond instead of trying to move them anymore than I had to. This was the first winter they stayed outside also so I didn't want to bother them til temps warm up and since it has been crazy weather (snowing in Oklahoma in May!) My pics are still a little early but I will keep adding to the thread as It progresses.

Just a reminder for everyone, this is what they are in now...

And this is what they are moving into.

First sizing up the space: 465333_3122259191746_554623912_o.jpg

Next the dig: 473221_3122259511754_181950650_o.jpg

My son had to play in it while it was filling up: 475215_3122258191721_718040500_o.jpg

And finally a somewhat finished product: 921425_3135376519671_1186379251_o.jpg

I never really was a big fan of the formal pond look but we already had all the stone and with the limited space it just seemed like the best option for now.

nothing wrong with the formall look and nice job .How bout a statue or pots of flowers to soften the edges may help it look less formal .Staue and you could go for a zen garden and bright flower pots a english cottage look

I like the zen garden idea. We already have a huge red pot that I want to put a japanese maple in and we were thinking of getting a concrete pagoda statue.

Thanks! We had such a time with this pond I should also mention that is My Wife in the pic also not me lol. The day after we dug it and put the liner in we got almost 24 inches of rain in two days and water got under the liner horribly so we took it back up drained the mud and water all day Sunday then built the sides up better with timber and bricks.

I think it's all good now though because it has rained (and snowed) for the last 3 days and everything is holding up fine.

Everybody should have at least one formal pond.

Nice to find another OK person on the forum. :)
Agreed. especially since I'm keeping the small pond also now (finally talked my Wife into it) I like formal ponds, I just never thought I would make one. I usually go for the more natural look.

Yes it is, I haven't seen many on here from Oklahoma. I'm way on the opposite side of the state though, hence the name Neo (North East Oklahoma) :)

Thanks addy! Unfortunately I never did get to move the other fish, temps stayed in the 50's all day and fog and clouds just wouldn't burn off. I don't know what the deal is with the weather lately but someone needs to inform Oklahoma that it is May already!

Yeah and we went to elkhart KS this AM to get a few gardening supplies. Took a bit of a rest and now the sky is dripping. What is that.
