Inherited a pond that has no filtration or water movement . Bottom filled with silt and bio material which I’ve almost cleaned up . Waters still brown so I bought a Little Giant WF-5 bio filter , it has a 2” intake on the filter. Pond is 22’ X 14’ and around 24” in the middle sloping up to the edges maybe around 2,000 gallons? How big of a pump will I need do you think? I intend to put some gold fish at some point in the future and add some plants. Also it almost in full shade it maybe gets 3 hours of partial sunlight. Oh and I also have a Laguna 3200 pressure filter . Thanks !!!!!!!

I have laguna pumps also and have had them for years . They work great as long as you maintain them by keeping them clean . I have 2 of the laguna pumps . I try to use 2 because if one goes out I don't get in a mad rush to get another one if one goes out but so far Knock on Wood they have lasted . Welcome and I really love the area the pond is built in . But do wonder about tree cast offs into the water and how that can effect the water quality . But water does look good from your pics . But be careful cleaning out the muck . Don't do it at one time or in one day as you may end up messing up the eco system . I know I don't see Colleen in Canada on here much but she does have a youtube channel and that may help you alot . She is great with her pond builds and always seems to know alot and her fish are extremely healthy . I just saw her youtube new video the other day .

I think you may be underestimating the pond volume by quite a bit. I just did a quick estimate using an online calculator (trying to account for sloping sides) and came up with a volume closer to 3000 gal. You may want to run a calculation yourself with your own numbers. There are lots of free calculators online. Just search for "pond volume calculator". Unless you've already done so and I'm totally off-base with my numbers...

Your pond is so pretty, you've done a lot. Some experts will now come along and give you some good, trustworthy advice.
