Hey,
Just picked up my 250g preformed pond. It had been used for a year years ago then placed in storage. For being old its in great shape but there is a small 1/2 inch crack in the corner.I just poured some epoxy on the outside and I have some plumbers goop to put on the inside. Ill will put some aquarium sealent on the glue on the inside. Then I will put a plastic paint drop cloth on the inside to stop water from getting to the crack in the first place. Does this seem like it will work? Heres some pics of the pond and the crack before the glue.

It case your fix doesn't work well for you Lowe's sells a two part marine epoxy manufactured by Loctite that works great for this. According to Marine aquarium enthusiasts it is fish safe after curing. The epoxy I'm referring to is grey in color. Make sure to lightly sand the surrounding area for good adhesion. I usually empty both parts on a piece of cardboard and mix to uniform color. It doesn't save well so you might as well use it up.

You may want to consider stop-drilling the crack before you use the adhesives to seal it up. Just drill a very small hole at either end of the crack and it will help keep it from spreading if force is put on it.

That black roofing tar would probably work. That is tough stuff.

No offense to anyone but the urethane is a much better choice IMHO than tar. the PL brand can be purchased at any hardware/home improvement.

Hey,
thanks for all your help. I just ordered a plastic welding iron. One review said he used it to repair a cracked fish pond so I am hoping it will work. If it does not, it was only 20 bucks.
