It was a window crash rescue that my wife held in her hand for about 20 mins before it flew off. Always nice to see them fly off.
I just did it with a junco. My guess with the bluejay is that hawks will make a strafing run at them and they fly off in all directions.
Sometimes into a window that they are normally very aware of.

Great pictures! We get blue jays, cardinals, goldfinches, and pine siskins at our backyard feeders. I would love to see an indigo bunting in our yard, and maybe one day I will.

We had indigo buntings show up xx years ago, they are so neat to see. Read they love edge woods, we have a lot of woods.

I've read that they love open brushy areas and weedy areas near woodland edges, which we have a lot of in our town.
We have goldenrods and tall grasses all around our property, and I expect that I will eventually see one of these buntings if we keep our feeders stocked from April-May. Also, I'm hoping to leave some "weeds" in our yard for them to forage from.

Someone else in our town has reported a sighting of one.
