Not Joining spawning fun?

Hi. I have 5 Koi. Only one do I know to be female (got her last summer) as she was obviously showing to be full of eggs. Today the spawning has begun and only one Koi (male I suppose?) is chasing her around and slamming her long with a couple of comets. But what is up with the other three? They just seem to be ignoring the whole thing. Just going about their business looking for food. Are they A) Females (if so why no eggs ever) Sterile. or C) Just old fart males ready for Koi Viagra? Or D) None of the above. The one male seems to be doing a good job however. She is almost totally empty of her eggs judging from her shape.

When you are able, post some photos. A good overhead shot will help.

Well do. Maybe a video link to you tube might be better as getting a decent still shot is very hard what with all the movement and reflection.

Maybe just not in the mood baron! I watched one smaller gf chase the female the others ignored her.

Or as in my case, the one I was sure was a male, ended up being a female. So she did not partoicpate in the first part of the spawn until she started laying eggs. I really thought I knew my difference between the males and females. But that one sure did fool me.
