The October 2018 Photo of the Month competition is now open for entries! :snaphappy:

Here are the rules:
  • The theme this month is Birds
  • No more than one submission per member.
  • The photo must be your own (although not necessarily taken in your own garden)
  • If you would like to make a submission, please reply to this topic and attach your photo (with a description if you want).
  • Please submit your photos no later than September 20th.
  • Once all submissions have been made, there will be a poll in the forum to select the winner.
  • Please only reply to this topic if you are making an entry. Please do not make any comments on the other photos, you will have the opportunity to make comments when the poll is released on September 21st.
The winner will be announced on October 1st, and the winning photo will be displayed on the forum main page during October.

One of the perks of living in the woods is the fantastic array of migrating birds that we see here, especially the warblers that we get at this time of year. Like this Blackburnian Warbler. Usually we have to watch the treetops to spot them, but a great thing about a pond with moving water is that it draws the birds in closer, and it is a real treat to watch them drink or take a bath in our waterfall.

Very nice ducklings. You may want to post the picture again and make sure you pick full image vs thumbnail. Your picture is showing up small.

Other then spring I love when you never know what you'll find passing by. For you folks down south this little guy may not be a special treat but here in new England these are beyond a rarity. The story goes as a pet store truck got in an accident on route 95 and a couple of these parrots got loose well somehow these tropical birds have figured out a way to survive through our winters. they build huge nests over transformers and

anything else they find to keep warm but I love them all the same.
