Overlooked?. They made me an admin.

And there is good software being used against the spammers. It takes time. I am learning how to load them into the software to stop them.

Anything we can do to help eliminate spam messages that are already here? Like report a user or something? I've never done admin for a forum but I've done some command line stuff in the past. There has got to be a way to mass-delete everything a spambot account has posted, and stop new spam users from ever getting registered.

I appreciate your offer to help with the problem. There's no need to report them as they are easily identified. Once I have banned their IP address, their user name and check for shared IP addresses, the posts and threads are deleted.

At this point we are using the tools we have available to us. They work but it is a time consuming and tedious process.

On the bright side, when we started using the tool we have the number of spammers caught and blocked before they registered has been increasing. Unfortunately, the ratio of blocked spammers to registered spammers is still very lopsided. There are a lot more of them than there are of us.

The owners are investigating a software add-on that will block them from registering and capture them in an approval queue. That way all we need to do is ban their IP addresses, their user names and we are done. No need to chase down threads or posts made by the bots.

It's a work in process and I appreciate everyone's patience and we work on this issue.

Oh, and don't feel as if they have singled out this site. They are spamming a lot of sites out in the interwebs and a lot of staff teams are dealing with the same issue.
