Owl in the pond video.

She's been staying really visible and close to the yard for the last few days. She's started napping above where I feed the deer - I think all their movements have kept it clear enough that she can watch the chipmunks scampering right below her. A couple of times (during the day!) I've seen her plunge to the ground to catch something. Always amazes me how fast she moves.

Came out to make the coffee and found Missy Owl on the fence next to the porch. So I skip the coffee and grab the camera. I take my time so I don't alarm her and step onto the porch, but I think she's kinda used to me by now.
After a few minutes a Coopers Hawk discovered her sitting out in the open and tried to run her off. He didn't realize that she was probably ready for bed even without all the screaming.
Here's a bit of her relaxing before the screaming began.

final Memorial day owl post:
took one last stroll to the pond yesterday and discovered Owl #2 sleeping just beyond the fence. I assumed (correctly) that Owl#1 was in the tree above the pond as usual. Took a seat at the bog to feed the fishes and then this happened...💞
