I started with a great bundle of parrots feather. I has grown out where the stems are 3-4 feet long and the leaves (the pretty part I wanted) are more sparse.
I have tried cutting it into 6" to 1' pieces. Anchoring them to my shelf - hopefully they grow back with foliage.

How much light is the area getting? Leggy growth is frequently caused by insufficient light in plants, whether terrestrial or aquatic.

Generally true, but not so with parrot's feather. It's just how they grow.

@Crimedog when mine start to stretch out too much, I just kind of loop de loop them around themselves and each other - create a tighter circle of the "feather" part. I also encourage mine to grow amongst my bog bean and my lily pads. That way they poke their heads out and you don't see the long stems, if that makes sense!
