i bought this pickerel rush from Lowe's & its just the rhizome that i see when i opened the container so how long will it take it to grow leaves? I have kept it in pail of water for now as it came covered up in a coconut husk so do i need to pot it in soil or should i leave it like that? Attached is the pic of the container it came from the store.
Thanks.

Pickerel Rush will grow pretty fast. I'd put it in a big pot of soil,at least 5 gals and have the water just covering the roots a few inches. It will outgrow any pot in a few years. Mine used to get loaded w/ aphids on the blooms and then the wind would come along and bend all the stems over. They can get up to 4'tall. Loves sun. Pretty plant under the right conditions and boy was it a bugger to divide.
